Just A Game or Is It?

As we move forward as a society the role of sport continues to be forgotten and disrespected. Many role models and critics have expressed how we should participate less and less in these types of commitments in order to focus on work and other similar activities. Mainly the idea behind these critics is for one to develop they must be totally committed and solely orientated on their work and hence to thrive economically a person must forget their sporting past times. With many financial worries becoming apparent in society these critics continue to rise, but in my opinion it is about time, deeper in sight was taken into this issue....
The way stress has multiplied within the general population could be put mainly down to the global financial crisis and other economic collapses and this has majorly affected the mindsets of society. From this we can understand how a release needs to be found in the form of some sort of other activity. Similar to having Phys-Ed in schooling the sporting involvement provides a break from the constant work, and this has been found to have a positive effect on the mind and as a consequence the work as well. The released mind set when coming back to work serves as another benefit freeing the mind of previous number crunching to now focus on what is in front of it in a more alert state.
The effectiveness as mentioned previously is also aided as the sporting environment allows individuals to develop a competitive spirit and a positive nature when facing defeat and success. The positive energy that comes out of being involved in sport is scientifically proven as exercise generates happiness molecules in the body hence contributing to a mindset more focused and open minded. Along with these benefits the individual learns leadership skills and the way in which to perform in a group environment as well as instilling confidence into the individual. With these benefits in place it can only be seen that sport in general builds positive ideas which will only develop and construct a far more effective work force, despite what critics present.
Along with building the ability of the individual to work in a team, it gives the people involved a chance to build relationships outside of their working environment. This is essential as it gives the involved another support structure when things go wrong along with when they are going fine. This is invaluable to society as the individuals are united to a greater extent than usual. By building these relationships among teams, communities can be united to follow certain teams and competitions and this can form a positive environment where several parts of the wider community work together in all aspects of life to further contribute to society.
When any of us apply for jobs or other applications, there are always the questions of sporting involvements, community involvement etc. By thinking about what we have discussed it becomes obvious why these questions are asked....it is because society is looking for well rounded individuals who can work in groups, show leadership and be open minded to their work. This presents how un-informed the critics are about being successful by shutting away other parts of your life to focus on work. We as a community need to understand the importance of sporting involvement for the people of our society and how it will not only benefit the individual but the globe moving into the foreseeable future.
